International Women’s Day (8 March)
International Women’s Day (8 March) is a celebration of women’s achievements in all fields – science, politics, the arts, in the home – everywhere.
This annual event also commemorates women's fight for equality, liberation and the women’s rights movement. Dating from 1911, IWD has grown in importance worldwide and acts as a platform for women to raise awareness of iimportant social issues still affecting them.
Here in Southbank Printmakers, many of our printmakers have made a selection of hand-printed original prints that echo the themes embraced by the international women’s movement. These are themes of individuality, determination, resistance and hope.
We hope you enjoy them. You can buy online here to be posted to you or to click and collect from the gallery.
