Rebecca Denton is a painter and printmaker based in North London. She exhibits regularly and her work is held in museum collections including London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, with collectors across the globe. Her etchings explore the quiet poetry of human connection—capturing fleeting moments, friendships, memories, and the simple joys of everyday life. Dreamlike and hopeful, her work carries an uplifting, ethereal quality. Inspired by her love of cold water swimming, Rebecca has focused on London’s lidos and hidden swim spots such as the Hampstead Ponds. Her wild swimmers are portrayed in harmony with nature, bonded through shared experience and the immersive joy of the water. Rebecca often draws from visual memory and sketchbooks filled with thoughts sketched out. “Light is everything,” she says, preferring to work in the soft light of early mornings or low-lit hours. “It creates gentle shadows, soft colour, mood, and drama.” In addition to etching, Rebecca creates monotypes—unique ‘printed paintings’ made with speed and spontaneity. “It’s a painterly process which forces me to work quickly before the ink dries resulting in a unique spontaneity and energy coming to life in each print.”
