Art practise: Structural & Spatial Artist Printmaker June is a contemporary artist and printmaker from North London with particular interest in structural and architectural forms. She is largely self-taught but has attended University of the Art London Central Saint Martins’ short courses and continues to attend Hampstead School of Art. Her work explores the structures, systems & frameworks that shape our experience of space and allow light to emerge. She is drawn to architectural and natural frameworks such as vaulted ceilings, atria, passages, and greenhouses, as well as natural structures like branching trees, forest canopies and structural plants. In both nature and architecture, these frameworks organise space and filter light, creating environments that can be entered and experienced. Working primarily through printmaking and painting, she focuses on the underlying structure of places rather than their surface appearance. Many of her compositions position the viewer within the structure itself—looking upward into an atrium, walking through a vaulted passage, or standing beneath the branching canopy of trees. She is interested in creating images that invite viewers to feel physically present within the space just as a six-year-old once said. “It feels like you are in it”. This spatial experience is extended through the framing of the work. Structural elements are printed on a separate layer and suspended in front of the main image.
