Liz Whiteman Smith   

 

Liz is a London based screen printer. She has been inspired by her travels around the world and is drawn to the quirky and unusual. She creates series of multi layered screen prints working from her own photographs and drawings.

​

She makes prints to make people smile, enjoying seeing the reaction people give when looking at her playful dinosaurs or colourful blue footed boobies.

 

She is an elected member of the Southbank Printmakers Gallery, Print Club London and Bell Fine Art Gallery. She also has work in the Victoria and Albert museum archives. Her work has been selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition,  Royal Society of Painter Printmakers Exhibitions and the ING Discerning Eye Exhibitions.

About the Boobies

Darwin found these cute little dancing birds on the Galapagos Islands. The blue footed booby has bright blue feet, the healthier they are, the bluer the feet and the more successful and popular they are. They are known for their mating dance where they lift up their feet to display them to potential partners. She has evolved them further to give them brightly coloured bodies and feet.

 

About the Buildings

As a Londoner, Liz is proud of the history and heritage in plain sight around every corner and the constant evolution and dynamism of the new that mixes, merges and develops this great city every single day. Her series of London screen prints celebrates this juxtaposition of old and new that makes her home city so unique.

About the Dinosaurs

Everyone loves dinosaurs, sadly they became extinct but what would they be doing if they were around today. I have given each of these dinosaurs something to play with - which one is your favourite?
