Jane’s main concerns are dealing with colour, shape and rhythm. Her prints are either purely abstract often based on the City to more referential images of views from her studio. Anglesey is also a great source of inspiration reflected in The Holyhead series. It is a place that means a lot to her having spent many summer holidays sailing.

Jane has several ways of creating her images. She likes to cut out her shapes using light blocking film. The silkscreen is coated with photo emulsion. The shape is placed under the screen and exposed to light on a light box. After that the emulsion is washed off the screen leaving an image where the shape was. She also creates some of her images using a combination of flat shapes and photoshop images using threshold. This combination was used in creating Vauxhall Tower and The Gradual Disappearance. The Gradual Disappearance is part of a series of prints starting with before the Battersea Power Station disappeared behind many buildings, followed by the gradual disappearance from 2012 to 2018. It is sad that the Power Station is being swamped by buildings. The next print will be printed when all the cranes leave the area.

More recently when printing her Holyhead series she combined the technique of reduction printing for the landscape behind the boats, which involved blocking out areas as she went along including her usual technique with geometric shapes. In Isolation was the first of the Holyhead series and has been accepted to be shown at the RA Summer Exhibition 2021. It reflects the fact we all felt isolated in 2020.
