Laure Fretigne
Laure Frétigné is a London-based artist who has been leading a double life for the last 12 years, dividing her time between her two passions, theatre and printmaking. She has learned the different printmaking techniques from some of the best specialists, at City Lit, Kensington and Chelsea College and Morley Chelsea and Waterloo.

Laure’s work is mainly inspired by the traces we leave behind: palimpsests, tenuous and fragile remnants of memories, feelings and impressions, which translate into multilayered images using multiple plate combinations, ghost prints and leftover ink. After years devoted to building a body of work around her interest for urban landscape, more specifically scaffolding structures and the endless graphic possibilities they offer, Laure has recently started focusing on building structures reminiscent of protective totems. Each “Totem” is built over several weeks by adding multiple layers of inked found objects (mainly packaging) and collagraphs until the right balance of colours and shapes is found.
Laure’s work has been shown at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, Bankside Gallery, Southbank Printmakers Gallery and the Chelsea Art Fair.
