Kethi Copeland creates original screen-prints capturing the diverse mix of London’s architecture triggering the viewers memories and senses.

Through the detailed line work of her architectural drawings and layers of screen-printed colour, Kethi Copeland tells us a story about the many layered experience of being in a city, offering a fresh perspective on what may be familiar surroundings.

In her ‘Walk By The River’ print series the twists and turns of the river Thames are rearranged to create one continuous line upon which the well known and under appreciated of London's riverside architecture co-exist.

The most recent additions to the on-going series explore the beautiful contrast of London’s architecture where the historic meets the new and almost alien shapes of the contemporary city demonstrated by buildings such as the 'Walkie-Talkie' and 'Cheese grater'. Fascinated by the way new buildings are assimilated into our city and even our vocabulary. A familiar but ever changing cityscape is captured in the pints.

The combination of delicate line drawing with blocks of printed colour in Kethi’s work highlights the intriguing cityscape and lends a distinctive style to the project. To achieve this, Kethi creates multiple stencils from her original drawings. Each of the limited edition prints are created with 4 -12 layers of screen-printed colour.

"I love the feel of the ink on the page and the possibilities it provides as a medium. My art print are inspired by the environments I find myself in: Whether a place is familiar or completely new, I look at it as if for the first time, seeking out what is fascinating about it and making visual or sensory connections with the place as a whole. Hidden out of the way places have much to contribute to the experience of being in a city and I aim to communicate this wider experience in the small parts that I capture on the page"
