Jennie Ing

Jennie studied Fine Art Printmaking at Croydon College before going to Wimbledon School of Art where she gained a Masters Degree in Fine Art: Print.

Her work is inspired by an interest in architecture and a fascination with the way space is taken up around us, with the patterns, repetitions and colours found in the built environment and what gives a place its identity.  She has lived in and near London for most of her life and it is here that she finds most of her subject matter.

She works with lino, using the reduction method to achieve layers of bold colour.  Each colour is printed separately, with the successive cutting away of areas from the surface of a flat block of lino.  With the reduction process there is no going back and the whole edition must be finished at the same time.
